Scuba Network just finished UW photography hunting in Red Sea....Diving facts in Red Sea - Sharm el Seikh (Egypt):
- very salty sea (30 % more salty): add more weights as your body become lighter
- always bring passport
- cant use stick or pointer ( bad news for uw photographer)
- some areas need visa
- a bit cold water temperature: 24-26 degree C
- many species of fishes (many of them is only in Red Sea)
- different variance of soft coral (not like in SE Asia sea)
- less attractive for uw macro
- tight security
- slow dive boat
- dive boat return to jetty must be punctual @4 pm (security policy: can cause problem if not follow the rules)
- most of the dive guide are not expert in searching for macro marine critters
- very very good visibility ( always 20-40 m)
- surface current can be strong and uw current is unpredictable from time to time
- highlight dive: wreck diving
- most attractive dive sites: local sites (Asia part), Ras Mohamed (Africa part), Thistlegorm (Asia part)
- rules & regulation from authorities can be changed at anytime and unpredictable
